Elon Musk’s Daughter Vivian Responds to His Comments About Her Transgender Identity
Elon Musk and ex-wife Justine Wilson's daughter Vivian Jenna Wilson is speaking out about her upbringing for the first time.
Days after the Tesla CEO spoke out about the 20-year-old—whom he is estranged from—and her transition journey, she shared insight into her relationship with her mom.
"She’s very supportive," Vivian told NBC News about her mother in an interview published July 25. "I love her a lot."
In 2022, Vivian filed a petition in a Los Angeles court to change her name to her current one in accordance with her gender identity, noting in the documents that she "no longer lives with" or "wishes to be related" to her dad.
Fast forward to July 22, when the SpaceX CEO commented on Vivian's transgender journey in a Daily Wire interview with psychologist Jordan Peterson. “I lost my son, essentially,” Elon said, using Vivian's birth name and saying she was “dead, killed by the woke mind virus.”

The billionaire, 53, added that he was "essentially tricked into signing documents" allowing Vivian to seek gender-affirming care after coming out as transgender.
However, Vivian—who, along with twin Griffin, is the eldest of Elon’s 12 children—set the record straight on his claims, sharing that after coming out as transgender as a teen she needed her parents' consent to begin medical treatment, which included puberty blockers and then hormone-replacement therapy.
While her mom, 51, was immediately supportive, her dad signed the forms after meeting with her.
"He was not by any means tricked," Vivian said. “He knew the full side effects."

Vivian also spoke about her past relationship with Elon. She said that her dad was present in her life "maybe 10 percent of the time" despite sharing custody of her and her brothers with her mom.
She called Elon "cold,” "very quick to anger" and "uncaring and narcissistic" and said that when she was a child, he pressured her to appear more masculine. Vivian said that during a road trip when she was in the fourth grade, her father "was constantly yelling at me viciously because my voice was too high."
Vivian’s insight into life with the SpaceX founder—who shares six kids with Justine—comes days after she spoke out against her dad on social media.
